Founded in 2018, El Paso Locomotive FC is the highest-level professional soccer club in El Paso and has competed in the USL Championship since 2019. The club was established as part of MountainStar Sports Group’s continued mission to improve quality of life, spur economic development, and unite the Borderplex through sports and entertainment.

Locomotive has reached the USL Championship Playoffs five times, qualifying in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2023 and 2025. The club advanced to back-to-back Western Conference Finals during its first two seasons and captured the USL Championship Mountain Division title in 2021 after completing an undefeated regular season at home. That same year, Locomotive became the first club to win both the Copa Tejas Division II trophy and the Copa Tejas Shield, recognizing the best professional soccer team in Texas.

Through Locomotive Youth Soccer and its Academy, the club offers year-round programming for players of all ages and skill levels while providing a pathway to collegiate and professional soccer. The Academy competes in ECNL and the USL Academy League and has produced professional and collegiate players. During the historic 2025–26 season, five ECNL Boys teams qualified for the playoffs, 13 players earned All-Conference honors, two were named Mountain Conference Players of the Year, and the program earned a No. 16 national club ranking.
