March 2012

MountainStar Sports Group, LLC (MSSG) is founded with a dedication to invest in initiatives that promote economic development and enhance the quality of life in the Borderplex region of El Paso, TX, Ciudad Juárez, MX, and southern NM.

October 2012

Minor League Baseball and the Pacific Coast League approve MSSG’s acquisition of the Tucson Padres, Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres.

May 2013

Official groundbreaking for a state-of-the-art ballpark located in downtown El Paso.

April 2014

The El Paso Chihuahuas, soon to become the #1 brand in MiLB, play their inaugural game at Southwest University Park.

July 2015

MountainStar Sports Group and investors in Mexico purchase FC Juárez Bravos, then an Ascenso MX League soccer club (Mexican Federation second division) and move play to Estadio Olímpico Benito Juárez in Ciudad Juárez.

December 2015

FC Juárez wins their first Apertura title.

September 2016

El Paso Chihuahuas win the PCL Championship title.

February 2018

MountainStar Sports Group announces El Paso will join the United Soccer League (now USL Championship).

October 2018

El Paso Locomotive FC is announced as new USL Championship club.

March 2019

El Paso Locomotive FC debuts at Southwest University Park, sharing the venue with El Paso Chihuahuas.  To accommodate play, Southwest University Park features one of the first retractable pitchers' mounds in the U.S.

June 2019

MSSG and investors purchase Puebla Lobos BUAP. The move allows FC Juárez to play in Liga MX, (Mexican Federation first division).

2021

MountainStar Sports Group, LLC signs ten-year Major League Baseball Player Development License, keeping Triple-A baseball in El Paso.

May 2022

El Paso Locomotive FC and the US Youth Soccer National League  announce the Locomotive Youth Academy will compete as one of 64 high-caliber boys clubs to compete in the inaugural National League Elite 64 launching this Fall.
